When audiences are looking to have a great time rocking out to songs from classic horn bands, these names pop up: Blood, Sweat & Tears, The Buckinghams, Ides of March, Lighthouse, Stevie Wonder and others. If people want to be treated to virtuosic horn arrangements from such exciting greats as Maynard Ferguson, Gordon Goodwin, John Fedchock's New York Band and Buddy Rich, audiences now include another band's name: The Spartan Alumni Jazz Band.
When an audience wants to dance or just sit back and enjoy the music of popular singers such as Michael Bublé, Harry Conick, Jr., Billie Holiday, Diane Schuur or Frank Sinatra, the SAJB does a great job performing their music as well. Don't miss a chance to see this exciting band 'Live' at their next concert or listen to their music on the CONCERT VIDEOS page. Included are Fan Favorites from their recent appearance at The Rehoboth 'True Blue' Jazz Festival paying tribute to Maynard Ferguson or their most recent concert tribute to Blood, Sweat & Tears.
Founded and led by Upright & Electric Bassist Joe Dawson, and conducted by Saxophonist Larry Spencer, the SAJB is a group of exciting and talented tristate area musicians that pay tribute to bands that use multiple horns as a big part of each arrangement. The Spartan Alumni Jazz Band is keeping the music of these modern bands fresh and exciting and have been an integral part of Delaware’s music scene for more than 25 years.
